I started crochet again, for the first time since I was a teenager, about five years ago – just after losing my lifelong non-smoking Mother to Lung Cancer.
One big way that crochet helped was that it reconnected me with beautiful memories and my inner child (or teenager) – that old me who I had lost along the way, who loved to read, write, crochet, garden, bake from scratch, choreograph dance routines, speak languages, travel and journal.
I think that I have spent the last five years finding and reconnecting with that teenage me and those awesome hobbies that I loved.
I think it might just be time for the next chapter of my life to start. The new chapter is called “Inspired” and it will be filled with these great hobbies and many more.
As for that crochet, I started out, as you do, with a scarf or two. I then made two throw rugs – both still in plain double stitch. I am now trying waffle stitch. I have made a scarf and am now working on a wrap / shrug.
I think the next stitch I’ll try is a stitch that I’ve seen on Pinterest that looks like knitting (which I really cannot do).
Well, I’d better go put the kettle on and do some more crochet.
I hope this helps in some way.
Hang in there, you’ve got this.
